Proposed Law Could Punish Employers for Snooping on Facebook

Bosses who check out their employees’ or job applicants’ Facebook or Twitter pages could get into trouble under a new federal law that protects workers’ genetic information and medical histories. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is considering how to apply the genetic protections to social networking Web sites such as Twitter and Facebook, where employees and job applicants post information about themselves, The Phoenix Business Journal reports.
