Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has hired veteran Phoenix attorney John Bouma to represent the governor’s office in lawsuits against the new immigration law, the Phoenix Business Journal reports.
Bouma is chairman of Phoenix-based corporate law firm Snell & Wilmer LLP. Five federal lawsuits have been filed against the immigration law.
Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard opposes the law and has declined to represent Brewer in the case, the governor’s office said Tuesday.
