DENVER—A Denver attorney with his own commercial practice was recognized by the Colorado Bar Association as an outstanding young lawyer.
Emanual Anton, owner of Denver-based Anton Law Group, on Monday was named the 2010 recipient of the Gary L. McPherson Outstanding Lawyer of the Year Award. The award will be formally presented on Dec. 8 at the CBA Young Lawyers Division Council holiday party at Argyll in Cherry Creek.
“Emanuel is truly a great role model for all attorneys,” said CBA YLD Chair Becky Bye.
The Gary McPherson Award is given to attorneys either under 37 years old or in the first three years of practice if over 37. Winners are chosen from nominees, and candidates must be in good standing of the CBA and show commitment to civic participation.
Anton, 36, focuses his practice on international trade and aviation. He also acts as outside counsel to more than 40 companies. The Anton Law Group has seven attorneys in its Denver and Colorado Springs offices.
Outside of his practice, Anton is involved in several organizations for people with developmental disabilities. He serves on advisory committee for Metropolitan Arc, the fundraising arm for the thrift store chain whose income and donations go towards programs for people with developmental disabilities. He’s also been a member of Arc’s board of directors since 2006. Anton also helped organize the Ed McCaffrey “Dare to Play” Football Camp for children and young adults with Down Syndrome. He and his wife have served as parent advocates for Mile High Down Syndrome Association since 2005.
