LAW WEEK COLORADO
DENVER — The Colorado Supreme Court Nominating Commission now has a complete roster of 15 appointed members. Gov. John Hickenlooper recently appointed Ira J. Paulin of Holly to fill the final vacancy, a spot reserved for a non-lawyer from the 4th Congressional District in northern and eastern Colorado.
Paulin, a registered Republican, is a wheat farmer and cattle rancher who served multiple terms on the Mined Land Reclamation Board as a representative of agricultural interests. See short biographies for all 15 commissioners here.
The commission meets Oct. 3 to review the 23 applications to succeed Justice Alex Martinez on the state’s high court, and will meet Oct. 11 and 12 to interview selected candidates. It will then pass on three names to Hickenlooper, who will have 15 days to select one of them to join the Supreme Court.
