LAW WEEK COLORADO
A Boulder intellectual patent firm is joining Lathrop & Gage, creating one of the state’s largest IP practices.
The addition of Greenlee Sullivan’s seven attorneys brings Lathrop & Gage’s IP section up to 88 attorneys, 34 practicing in Colorado.
“Lathrop & Gage opened a Boulder office in 2000 to attract top IP talent,” said Bill Rudy, chairman of the firm’s IP division. “The addition of Greenlee Sullivan, a firm we’ve long admired, continues that dedication to offering our clients the best technical minds along with savvy legal counsel.”
Greenlee partners moving are: Sally Sullivan, Stephen Barone, Steven Penner, Susan Doughty and Gary Chapman. Two associates, three patent agents and support staff will also move into Lathrop & Gage’s Boulder office when the merger becomes official Jan. 1.
Penner said Greenlee has focused on client service in the firm’s 25 years.
“We’re excited to join Lathrop & Gage,” he said. “We believe there’s a shared deep commitment to high quality service and great value for clients.”
The Greenlee team comes with doctorate degrees in chemistry, microbiology, immunology and biophysics, which Lathrop & Gage said will further bolsters the firm’s life sciences practice. Two years ago, the firm opened a Boston office focused on biotechnology and life sciences. It has grown from three to 11 attorneys, and in the past year has attracted lateral partners from the nation’s top firms as well as global healthcare leader Abbott Laboratories. The Greenlee team will work with the Boston office to expand the firm’s life sciences footprint nationwide.
